exhibition inaugurated with samples from yesterday and today

After the opening on Saturday 8 June, the official inauguration of ‘Faenza, Faïence, bicycles towards the Tour de France’ was celebrated on Friday, the exhibition at Palazzo del Podestà which displays the bikes of the Romagna cycling champions, the their shirts and much other unpublished material. The initiative which is already enjoying great public success was organized to welcome the historic passage of the second stage in Italy of the 111th edition of the Tour de France which will pass through the city and the heart of Faenza on Sunday 30 June.

The event, hosted by the journalist Maurizio Marchesi, was attended by the mayor of Faenza Massimo Isola, the councilor for sport Martina Laghi and for tourism Simona Sangiorgi who personally conceived and curated the exhibition, the regional councilor Andrea Corsini, the undersecretary to the regional presidency Giammaria Manghi, the well-known sports journalist Beppe Conti and the many well-known and established Faenza champions of yesterday and today, testifying to the protagonism of Faenza and Romagna in the history of cycling.
Also on display is a selection of ‘two wheels’, coming from the private collection of Vincenzo Collina, linked to the world of work and those used in the period between the two war conflicts together with works from nursery schools on the theme of the bicycle. The exhibition was curated by the artist Oscar Dominguez.

However, Palazzo del Podestà will not only be home to the static exhibition. Until July 7, the Salone dell’Arengo will also host various events: book presentations, documentary film screenings and in-depth moments, all linked to the theme of bicycles. The first appointment is scheduled for next Monday 17 June at 6pm with the presentation of the book ‘Ask me who was Pantani’ (Ed. Rcs Mediagroup) by Francesco Ceniti who will dialogue with the journalist Alessandra Giardini.

These are the opening hours of the Palazzo del Podestà: Monday to Friday, from 5.30pm to 8pm; Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 12.30pm and from 5.30pm to 8pm. Sunday 30 June, the day of the passage of the Tour de France, from 9am to 12pm. The exhibition can also be visited by school groups and summer camp groups (reservations required at email [email protected]), in the time slot 9-12, Tuesday 18, Friday 21 and Wednesday 26 June.
