“Roberto Occhiuto has all the qualities to be able to govern until 2031. Only a ten-year government can bring a turning point to Calabria”.

This was stated in a note by the deputy group leader of the Brothers of Italy in the Chamber, Alfredo Antoniozzi. “I will not go into – he adds – the merits of delegations or other things that are the exclusive responsibility of the President and, as far as we are concerned, our regional coordinator, Wanda Ferro, who is a woman of importance. FdI is a united, cohesive party with hard-working and sober council and council representation, elements that Calabria needs. Occhiuto is working well and the central government will certainly support him in the key sectors affected by the failure of the regional system of the past decades, a responsibility that concerns both political sides. Only ten years of work can give us back an efficient healthcare system, but to those who criticize us I say that we have collected the rubble of 11 years of bankruptcy administration. Does anyone remember that one of the last commissioners said that they had put something in his water to justify an inappropriate statement?”.

“It seems to me that the left – Antoniozzi continues – engages in demagogy and does not have the ability to provide alternative solutions, a task that the opposition should carry out by going beyond simple protest. It seems incredible to me, among other things, that the left is protesting for differentiated autonomy after having put it in the Constitution with Calabrian ministers who were in office at the time. It is an amnesia that is inconceivable. Rather, we must recover as a coalition a profitable relationship with the Catholic world, which is generally close to us, and make it clear that Giorgia Meloni would never divide the country: what will be done will happen according to the needs and requirements of Calabria and the South. Furthermore, the controversies of recent weeks are also worrying within the centre-right because they are the result of an electoral campaign, even if the old saying ‘dirty laundry is washed at home’ is always wise. Instead, I see a divided center-left, with the Cinquestelle always paying for the alliance with the Democratic Party and I don’t see how center forces like Action and Italia Viva, which have also achieved excellent results in Calabria, can ever go to the left”.

“Brothers of Italy – continues the parliamentarian – has great room for growth because it represents a right that is social, liberal and identitarian. I am proud of the contribution we have made to re-elect our Denis Nesci in Europe and we have done so with prestigious and militant candidacies, like that of Luciana De Francesco, presented by putting aside personal ambitions in the service of an idea”.
