The operational headquarters of the 118 emergency service will be moved to Nocera in the ASL premises, “much larger spaces here”
Passes from the Ruggi hospital in Salerno to Nocera Inferiore in the premises of the ASL, the 118 operations center. This was confirmed, as reported in Il Mattino, by the medical director of the health company First Sergianni. «Absolutely nothing changes – he explains – it is only a physical movement of the operators, who move from the headquarters housed inside the Ruggi to premises owned by the healthcare company in Nocera Inferiore. The service will continue to be offered appropriately and efficiently in all its potential. There will also be an optimization of the spaces and activities of the operators, because in Nocera we have a very large headquarters and we are using it as the headquarters of the company operations center, not only for 118, but also for the next territorial operations centers, which we are starting to implement within the Salerno Local Health Authority”.
We are talking about a telephone exchange, serving the entire provincial health district, not just the city of Salerno. Currently, in the territory of the province, the ASL has 19 medical cars and around 60 ambulances, being able to guarantee the requested assistance within the times required by law. «It is not a question of locating the operations center in one municipality compared to another – replies the health director – The operations center is unique for the entire company, which has 16 health districts, a distance between the two furthest points of the province of 250 kilometers and has the possibility of guaranteeing the same operation anywhere in the province.”
The transfer of skills from Ruggi to the ASL it took place in 2017 and was preparatory to the implementation of the regional law on the reorganization of the 118 operations centers, which provided for a single center for the entire province. For this reason, it was integrated with the already existing one of Vallo della Lucania. While waiting for the completion of the passage procedures, the Cot has remained, until now, in the rooms located at the entrance of the hospital in via San Leonardo.
