Online death threats to politicians: a man from Trento identified and reported

Disturbing phrases like «The revolutionary army has promulgated a definitive death sentence” And «We know where you live, what you eat, what time you took the train» were addressed to two Calabrian politicians, including a former deputy, via the web.

The threats, which also included «The death sentence will be carried out by the proletarian firing squad.”were traced by Postal police who eventually reached a man resident in Trento, now reported. What this man may have to do with Calabrian politicians is not yet known.

The investigation was conducted by Carabinieri of Gioia Tauro, with the ROS support (Special Operations Group), due to the fear that the perpetrator of the threats could belong to one anarchist cell.

However, investigators reassured that “fortunately, the investigations carried out made it possible to exclude, with reasonable certainty, any connection with subversive environments, considering the gesture as an initiative of a single individual”.

The investigation began at the end of 2023, when some videos on YouTube they started receiving threatening comments directed at the two politicians. Although the sentences were later deleted, the police managed to recover them.

It emerged that the author, a Trentino, he used nicknames accompanied by acronyms such as “KGB”, “BR – PCC”, and “NBR” (New Red Brigades), trying to create the impression of a connection with extremist groups. Law enforcement continues to monitor the situation, but for now the episode is considered an isolated action, with no links to larger or dangerous organizations. In short, the madness of one of the usual web phenomena who vent their frustrations by insulting and threatening others from behind a screen. But this time the keyboard lion has been discovered.
