Adam Masina: the redemption is official. In regular time, Toro exercised the option that he had guaranteed himself at the time of the loan by paying Udinese the amount agreed last January (one million euros) and the player signed a new contract expiring in June 2026. Four months were enough for him (February-May) to win the respect of the Granata universe thanks to constant application both in training and in matches, to a mature, serious attitude which also affects the climate of the locker room. The performance on the field was consistently positive, such as to fully satisfy the expectations of the Urbano Cairo club.

The defender of African origins (16 appearances with the Morocco national team and previously six with the Italian Under 21 team) played 16 of the 17 possible matches with Toro, remaining on the bench only with Frosinone. In ten matches he took to the field from the start and in seven of these matches he remained there until the last minute, while on the other three occasions he played for 81′ with Roma, 85′ with Lazio (recovery) and 76′ in Verona. Recording a reduction in playing time only in the month of March (Monza, Empoli, Juve and Inter) when he was included in the finals. In order to exploit his qualities, Juric used Captain Rodriguez several times further forward, on the midfield line. In the next championship, Masina will take over the Swiss’s duties both as a centre-left scorer and as a fifth midfielder on the left-handed lane. At the moment, Toro would field Schuurs, Buongiorno and, indeed, Masina in a three-man line. Who should pay Rodriguez about ten dinners since he also owes his debut in the Granata to the former captain, who was injured in the match against Salernitana in February and made room for him.

Granata’s technical director, Davide Vagnati, focused on him last winter despite a long muscle injury at the start of the season preventing Udinese from using him in the first nine matchdays. The esteem of the Granata manager dates back to the times of his first role as technical and market manager, carried out in Giacomense (a company from Ferrara). In 2012-13, a 191 cm center forward arrived on loan from Bologna: Masina had already been a striker for the rossoblù youth sector. But Giacomense’s coach, Fabio Gallo, deploys him in defense and from this happy intuition starts the new, rewarding career of this Moroccan boy adopted and weaned by an Emilian family.
