Her name was Aurora and she was only 9 years old, the little girl who died in Montesilvano, killed by the Frecciarossa which ran from Pescara to Milan. She was only nine years old, Aurora, and when she arrived at the station, with her mother Jeidi, she perhaps imagined having to leave. She was holding her mother’s hand tightly, when she, the woman she trusted most in the world, decided to turn off forever that infinite anguish against which she had been fighting for some time. The images from the cameras leave no room for doubt: the forty-year-old decided to kill herself, dragging her daughter along. They died in an instant, torn apart by the train. A horrible death, which leaves a whole series of questions, which the prosecutor’s investigations will try to answer. It is known that Jeidi, Cuban but in Italy for years, was following a path of psychological help, to combat her depression. She had a husband, an Italian, and that sweet daughter, to whom she dedicated attention and love. What happened, why she suddenly decided to end it all, killing herself and Aurora, is unknown. She left no notes or explanations. Just a huge void. The Mayor of Montesilvano proclaimed city mourning and canceled all celebrations for his re-election. On platform two of the Montesilvano station there is a bouquet of flowers with a sign “Fly free little Aurora”.
