Sanremo Festival by Carlo Conti which ends at half past midnight. Good or bad news for the flower city business? The question, obviously, must be addressed to the categories and operators in the sector but, according to those in the know, it can only be positive news.
In fact, already since the time of Pippo Baudo, the discussion was open between those who wanted a Festival that ended at a more ‘human’ hour and those who instead wanted it to go on until late at night. The singers and their staff are now used to making ‘hit and run’ at the Ariston for their song and, therefore, taking refuge in their favorite restaurant for a good dinner, almost always based on fish. From this point of view, therefore, little would change for restaurateurs.
But, obviously, there is the whole ‘contour’ of professionals and also the public. With the Festival ending shortly after midnight, these could become potential customers for bars and restaurants, generating further job opportunities for everyone. Without forgetting the possibility, as happened in the 80s and 90s, of creating nocturnal musical moments such as the famous ‘PalaRock’ and ‘PalaMusic’ even if times have changed and it is difficult to bring exponents of international music as happened in those periods.
A choice, that of Carlo Conti if confirmed, which will certainly cause discussion and we will see how it will be taken by the Matuzian trade, always very attentive to the dynamics linked to the Song Festival, one of the most important moments in terms of tourism and trade for Sanremo.
