Only a week ago the candidacy was officially presented and, as announced, yesterday in Dublin – Ireland – was the day of the proclamation of the city that will host Eurogym 2026: the jury decreed that it will be Pistoia’s choice. A moment of great satisfaction for the organizing committee, led by the federal technician Alessandra Mazzatosta with the Fgi Toscana, and for the municipal administration which immediately embraced the idea with the recent addition of the support of ChiantiBanca. “We immediately believed that Pistoia had all the characteristics to host this international event” said Alessandra Mazzatosta.
The victory came against Estonia, the only opponent left in the running after a series of defections. The appointment with the non-competitive gymnastics festival for all aimed at young people will be for summer 2026 – the dates will be made official at a later time – and will bring to the city at least 4 thousand young people between 12 and 18 years old who do artistic gymnastics from all over Europe. With their teachers, coaches, staff and parents they will allow us to reach even more sensational numbers which will be able to bring a significant impact throughout the province and beyond
“Great satisfaction for the preparatory work carried out for our candidacy – states the councilor for sports promotion, Alessandro Sabella – on my part, special thanks to the organizing committee: we believed in it from the beginning and we achieved a remarkable result” . The athletes will be hosted in schools and other suitable structures which will be identified as soon as possible so as not to lose even a moment in the preparation phase and to start with any improvements to be adopted to see the historic city center filled with people from every corner of Europe .
