Italia Viva will not give any indication of choice for the ballot from the Municipal to Florencewho will decide who will be the new mayor in Sara Funaro (Pd, supported by almost the entire centre-left) e Eike Schmidt (supported by the centre-right). The party of Matteo Renzi specifies that it will leave “its voters and its leaders, starting with the mayoral candidate and future city and neighborhood councillors, free to make their own assessments”. And the candidate for mayor, the vice president of the Region Stefania Saccardia minute later he said he was going to vote and will vote for Funaro. “The field in which I played has never been in question, it is that of the centre-left” she says clearly, at least she. Above all, what she feared most from a potentially explosive situation was the governor Eugenio Giani, who must take into account the balance of his majority: he immediately shared a photo on his social networks in which he embraces Funaro on one side and Saccardi on the other. A post that resembles a sigh of relief, at least for now and considering the electoral reverses on the weekend of 24 and 25 June. For the entire last week of the electoral campaign Funaro will be able to count on the most well-known administrators of the Democratic Party. The new MEPs are expected on June 20th at an initiative in Piazza delle Murate, a stone’s throw from Santa Croce Stephen Bonaccini, Anthony Decaro, Giorgio Gori And Dario Nardella. Italia Viva for his part, he had set out with great expectations: he had presented his own candidate to try to tip the scales. The latter received just over 6 percent and explained that Funaro will obtain his endorsement “only if a discussion table is opened and a change of pace on taxation and housing”. Funaro, for his part, underlined that “the objective of those who run for mayor is to speak to the Florentines” but also specified that “there are some proposals brought by other candidates that must be taken into consideration: I am thinking of the proposal of the pole for the innovation advanced by Cecilia Del Re with Marco Tognettiif I am mayor I will make it mine.”
On the other side there is Eike Schmidtformer director of Officescurrent director of the museum of Capodimonte Of Naples (on expectation), which does not contemplate the possibility of becoming “leader of the opposition” because he expected, he says, to win in the first round and now that there is a run-off “I’m thinking about winning, this is our goal”.
