Friday June 14, 2024several transport sectors in Italy will be affected by strikes which will cause significant disruption to local commuters and travellers. The union protests, already confirmed and planned, will involve local public transport and taxi service in several cities and provinces of the country.

Strike 14 June 2024, where local transport stops

The first group involved in the strike on 14 June is represented by the staff of the Csc Mobilità company Latin, whose strike was proclaimed by the Osr Ugl-Fna union. This will involve the staff for the whole daycausing one complete stop of local public transport in the affected area.

Csc Mobilità scrl is an Italian consortium company concessionaire of the local public transport service in the municipality of Latina and, in part, also in the localities of Sant’Ilario and Castelverde in the municipality of Cisterna di Latina. The decision to call the strike was taken on May 23, 2024, in response to disputes regarding the working and contractual conditions of employees.

Also the Società Autolinee Toscane, in the province of Massa Carrara, will experience a significant disruption to its operations on June 14. The Osp Filt-Cgil union declared one 8 hour strikedivided into two blocks:

  • from 8.30 to 12.29;
  • from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.

This industrial action will affect local public transport on a scale provincialdirectly affecting users in the area.

Taxi strike also confirmed on June 14th in Bologna

In addition to local public transport, Friday June 14th even taxis stop for the strike.

The unions Osr Uilt, Uil/Unica taxi Cgil, Uritaxi, Ascom taxi, Confartigianato taxi and Cna Fita taxi have decided to stop the taxi service throughout the entire Bologna area for 12 hours, from 8.00 to 20.00.

This action was announced on 4 June 2024, following the discontent that emerged due to what union representatives defined as “unfulfilled licensing agreements”.

Obviously, the coordinated strike of these three sectors will have a local impactbut significant, on individual transport within the city.

While the protests are aimed at achieving improvements in working conditions and in contract negotiations, the side effects will heavily affect users of local transport and taxis, causing inconvenience in the daily movement of people.

Where to check for strikes

To monitor strikes affecting the public sector at a national, interregional and local level, it is possible to consult the “strikes” section of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

By accessing the dedicated page you can also consult the list of personnel involved and the cities involved (it is clearly specified which sectors, areas and entities are affected by the strikes), as well as the details of the strikes (i.e. the strike actions that have been called, with the date, expected duration and other relevant information) and of the unions that have promoted the initiatives.

In addition, it is always recommended directly consult the websites and social pages (Facebook, X and Instagram) of the transport companies local or those that cover the routes of interest. They often publish official statements on strikes and service interruptions directly using their own channels. These releases provide precise details on the affected lines, outage times and proposed alternatives.
