ROVIGO – That’s 25 continuous years of programming. All the performing arts have intersected; great national and international music resonated in the squares of the small towns of Polesine; the theater of illustrious names and satirical monologues has stopped in the churchyards, and dance from all over the world has taken its steps on the steps of the Venetian villas.
She returns to celebrate her 25th birthday together with the large audience that has always followed her and the spectators who will begin to appreciate her from this special 2024 edition, the now iconic traveling summer festival of live shows “Between villas and gardens”, an excellence of Polesine, now a national cultural reference point, promoted and supported by the Province of Rovigo, organized with the operational arm of Ente Rovigo festival, and the artistic direction of Claudio Ronda.
The presentation of the 2024 edition will take place at a press conference open to the public, Tuesday 18 June, at 11.30 am, in the council room of the Province of Rovigo, at Palazzo Celio, in via Ricchieri known as Celio, in the Polesine capital.
“25 years of Between villas and gardens, what a spectacle! The emotion continues…” is the claim of this edition number 25, which includes an artistic calendar of 17 events, in as many municipalities in Polesine, which will unfold from July 2nd to August 21st.
Twenty-five editions signify an indissoluble bond with the territory, which is expressed in combining art with the Polesine landscape and its peculiarities, but also in the stubborn public desire to offer important cultural proposals, at popular prices, to the widest possible audience. An exhibition with an inclusive and sustainable vocation, which has become the heritage of the people of Polesine, but open to welcoming the public from every part of Italy.
“A review in which the popular and the cultured mix through the stories and tales of the numerous artists who have alternated in these 25 years – comments the artistic director Claudio Ronda. – Programming attentive to changes and the relationship between tradition, modernity and innovation has always sought to create a dialogue between different generations and to provoke in the viewer a reflection on their own time”.
It is truly impressive to look back through the roll of honor of memories of Among villas and gardens. The world of music, theatre, dance and circus arts has truly all passed through the streets of Polesine, in a mix of artists of local and international origins, emerging and well-known artists, classical arts and urban performances, from jazz American and European to bossa nova, from classical to flamenco, from Italian songwriting of yesterday and today, to rock in all its forms, to international fusion, to 1950s swing and its reinterpretations, from contemporary dance to classical ballet , from a cappella singing to world music, from monologues to auteur theatre, from comedy shows to street performances.
