“The hierarchy of beauty”, the Naples you don’t expect

These days it seems that we may be able to regain possession of Neapolitan assets, in a location that in itself seems more than sufficient to lend itself to the occasion. Let’s think of the Stazione Marittima of Naples, the capital of reading from the 14th to the 16th of this month with its Book and Publishing Fair with the unmistakable name of “NapoliCittàLibro”. An unmissable opportunity for the curious, for more or less passionate readers but, above all with the presentation of “La Gerachia del bello: knowing and communicating the historical-artistic heritage of Naples that you don’t expect”, an opportunity for citizens and tourists interested in Naples and less traveled Campania. Oh yes, this will be the added value of this June 15th in Sala Urania 4 at 6 pm, an appointment with Napoli that you won’t expect. But let’s proceed in order. Another point of view on the delights of the area was thought and written with “The Hierarchy of Beauty: knowing and communicating the historical-artistic heritage of Naples that you don’t expect”, a volume edited by Rosario Bianco and Gianpasquale Greco published by Rogiosi . A work that brings together over twenty specialists, including members of institutions and scholars, who will talk in a popular way but with a scientific approach about those corners or cultural paths that characterize the Neapolitan area and more widely Campania less traveled, or only known for their appearance institutional but not for their aesthetic value. Space therefore, for example, to the Roman Villa of Posillipo and its coast; to the pictorial and material heritage of the State Archives of Naples; to the artists’ homes and the wonderful noble and bourgeois palaces around the Royal Palace of Caserta; to the archaeological preciousness of the Sanità subsoil; to the museum and exhibition heritage of the National Library of Naples. And then, again, to the treasure of the precious objects of the liturgy between gold and relics; to the places of history dear to writers and artists, as well as the most recent solutions in the design of plastic materials. And much, much more. The selection of authors consciously mixes prominent young professionals with established players in the scientific and cultural life of Campania. At the Maritime Station this Saturday 15 June there will not be a guide presented, therefore, but an alternative compass of a city that is selling itself but which, especially in these times, will not have to sell itself out to the worst bidders, that is, to those hit-and-run tourists who with wallet pizza will pretend to “binge” on art and culture with the hourglass in hand.
