He wandered lost through Cagliari, a centenarian saved by the Carabinieri | Cagliari

He was wandering lost around Cagliari, but the Carabinieri took care of saving him. Happy ending for a 100-year-old man after the Carabinieri Operations Center received a report today regarding an elderly man in a confused state who was wandering near the car parks in Viale Bonaria. The situation was promptly taken over by a patrol from the Cagliari station who, upon arriving on site, found the elderly man visibly disoriented and unable to provide useful details on his identity or residence.

The Carabinieri, demonstrating professionalism and sensitivity, welcomed the elderly man and, after reassuring him, started “investigations” to trace his identity. Thanks to the gentleman’s memories and the collaboration with the registry offices, the man’s identity was discovered: a resident of Ulassai who will reach the exceptional milestone of 101 years in September.

Having contacted the Municipality of Ulassai, it was possible to trace the gentleman’s carer, who had momentarily lost sight of his client. The man was returned safely to those who could continue to care for him. In the end, the centenarian received a request from a “young man” that you wouldn’t expect: a nice photo with the soldiers who saved him.
