TERAMO. «I didn’t want to hurt him. We argued, there was a fight, I got scared and took the knife from my pocket just to scare him”: the 19-year-old Macedonian accused of stabbing the 20-year-old from Teramo defends himself before the judge against the charge of attempted murder.
During the validation hearing which took place yesterday morning in prison the young man, assisted by his lawyer Rocco Giovanni Maria Alessianswered the judge’s questions Roberto Veneziano. He told the magistrate that they were friends with the injured man and that a few days before the events there had been an argument in the car in front of a third person over an issue relating to the payment of a petrol fee. “Then there were some phone calls,” the young man said again, “and some arguments.”
The defender asked for house arrest for the young man, who has no criminal record, and the judge reserved his decision on this. The provision will be filed in the next few hours.
In the house the soldiers found a switchblade, probably the one used in the attack, and clothes stained with blood. According to the prosecutor’s office, he stabbed the boy three times, hitting him in the abdomen and arm. Fortunately, the injured man did not have serious consequences: he was treated and released from hospital with a prognosis of thirty days. The violent argument broke out between the twenty-year-old from Teramo and the Macedonian near the remains of the Roman theater where the young man was in the company of some friends. According to the reconstruction made by the carabinieri, there would have been a violent argument between the two at the height of which there would have been stab wounds: three slashes, two of which were in the abdomen and one in the arm with which the man from Teramo tried to protect himself. Witnesses said that they were the ones who blocked the attacker who had knocked the other one to the ground. The injured young man, who was immediately rescued, was transported to hospital where he was treated and discharged with a prognosis of thirty days: fortunately, his life is not in danger even if the blows to the abdomen could have had worse consequences. According to the version provided by the police, it seems that the origin of the attack was a previous argument that broke out between the two during a soccer match. The attacker was identified by the police a few hours after the incident thanks above all to the testimonies of some people.
