“The staff has been ready since the end of June, we had made a commitment and we kept it”, the president of the FIGC Gabriele Gravina thus welcomed the ratification in record time of the registrations for the 2024/2025 championships by the Federal Council. Only Ancona, who did not lodge any appeal, did not obtain the license for the Lega Pro championship. With the exclusion of the Dorians from the championship, a third Under 23 is preparing to make its debut in Serie C.
In fact, Milan B is ready to complete the roster of sixty teams that will face the third Italian professional competition. The number one of the Football Federation confirms: “There is great satisfaction for having secured the system, it will be the first summer without appeals for admission to the championships. Never in the history of Italian football had the championships been fully staffed at the beginning of June with the exception of the void left by Ancona, which will be filled by June 27th.”
The next Federal Council will be held on this date. To complete the only staff vacancy, the Board approved the criteria for the repechage which includes a Second Team from the Serie A championship in first place, with the final date for submitting applications being June 25th. Gravina continues: “The fact of having no appeals reassures us and makes us proud of the great commitment made. If there were to be another Second Team it would be a further source of pride, it would also be a sign of quality for the Lega Pro championship. We would go from one to three Second Teams in the space of two years.”
It will therefore be a quiet summer away from the courts, by the end of the month the lineup of teams involved in the next Lega Pro championship will be definitively completed. The Rossoneri will therefore have to deposit the documentation by June 25th, two days later the ratification by the Federal Council. At that point the picture will be clear and we can proceed with the composition of the groups.
According to the regulations there cannot be two second teams in the same group. Admission will allow Milan Under 23 to join Juventus Next Gen and Atalanta Under 23. The three teams will be placed in the various groups, with the option of a draw becoming increasingly probable, respecting the principle of alternation. For a club that was included in a specific group in the previous sports season, the draw will take place for inclusion in one of the other two groups.
Therefore, barring other sensational scenarios, Avellino will find themselves facing the B team of a big Serie A team this season, with a trip to the North scheduled.
