PRESS RELEASE

Recently, the municipal administration adopted with Ordinance 274 of 11/06/2024 an important measure to regulate traffic in the Renara valley, an area renowned for its tranquility, clean air and, in summer, an important tourist destination for its wonderful swimming in the river.

The introduction of transit and parking bans for motorized vehicles was a necessary move, also in light of the requests from residents and for emergency access.

However, there is an “upstream” consideration that must be made, that is, that not everyone has the possibility of going to those places by bicycle, or, better yet, on foot.

This ban, although with acceptable objectives, does not take into account the needs of a significant part of the population, for whom private transport represents the only viable option.

Furthermore, the transit ban also risks discouraging tourists, who, attracted by the quiet and natural beauty of the Montane hamlet, may find it difficult to reach this corner of paradise without an adequate public transport service.

Currently, line 78 is the only public transport option that connects the city center to the Guadine, but with only three daily trips at inconvenient times for those who want to spend a relaxing day surrounded by nature.

This limited availability makes public transport an insufficient solution to support tourism and ensure accessibility for all citizens.

For this reason I invite the municipal administration to consider a more inclusive solution that can combine the need to guarantee traffic and safety with that of guaranteeing easy access for all.

Some possible proposals could include increasing the number of routes on line 78, especially on weekends and during peak tourist hours, or introducing a dedicated shuttle service departing from the city center and making strategic stops along the route.

Only through a collaborative, proactive and balanced approach, which considers both environmental protection and accessibility, will it be possible to fully enhance the potential of the Renara Valley, making it an accessible and attractive destination for citizens and tourists.

I sincerely hope that the administration takes these reflections into consideration and finds a solution as soon as possible that allows everyone to enjoy the natural beauty of our territory by taking a step forward and not one backwards!
