Federal Council: the exclusion of Ancona is official

Now Mayor Silvetti is tasked with finding a new buyer to be able to start again from the amateurs

After Covisoc’s rejection, the Federal Council’s decision has now also arrived: Ancona has been excluded from the next Serie C championship. The historic club, therefore, will have to start again from the amateurs.

Now the FIGC will instruct Mayor Silvetti to look for a new project, possibly through a public tender, in which none of the members of the last club will be able to take part.

Once a possible buyer has been found, the new property chosen by the mayor of Ancona will have to request supernumerary registration in the Serie D championship or in the relevant Excellence championship, depending on the non-repayable fund.

Now that the exclusion of Ancona has been ratified, let’s remember that Milan U23 will ‘benefit’ from it. No Serie D team, winner of the playoffs in their respective groups, will be drawn back. In fact, the Marche club was the only one excluded from the next Serie C championship.

The future of Ancona after the Federal Council: what the regulation says

The procedure listed above, specifically, is regulated by article 52 paragraph 10 of the NOIF, i.e. the Internal Organizational Rules of the FIGC. Below we report the part of interest. “In the event of non-admission to the Serie A, Serie B and Serie C championships, the Federal President, in agreement with the President of the LND, following the opinion of the Commission established for this purpose, may allow the city of the club not admitted to participate with its own club at an LND Championship, even in supernumerary cases, provided that the same club:

a) fulfills the requirements established by the individual Committee for registration in the Championship;
b) has no members and/or directors who have held, in the last 5 years, the role of partner, director and/or manager with powers of representation in the federal context, in companies subject to exclusion measures from the relevant championship or revocation of affiliation from the FIGC.
If participation in the Interregional Championship or the Regional Championship of Excellence is permitted, the club will have to pay a contribution to the FIGC in the first case not less than 300,000.00 euros and in the second case not less than 100,000.00 euros. The President has the right, in agreement with the Vice Presidents of the FIGC, with the President of the Amateur League and with the Presidents of the technical components, to establish a contribution higher than the aforementioned minimum
“.
