Beniamino Vignolaformer midfielder of Hellas gave an interview to Courier of Veronaapproving the Gialloblù’s choice to nominate Paolo Zanetti as the new coach: “A gamble, but one of those that are nice to make. He is a young coach, an emerging one. He comes from his dismissal with Empoli with whom, let’s remember, he had however been able to seize, in the previous season, the salvation. He has shown that he has the skills needed to remain in Serie A.”
What do you expect from him?
“He arrives at Verona with great energy, with very strong motivations. I don’t know how things went in Empoli, but he certainly has a great desire for redemption. This is a very important aspect. Zanetti is part of the new wave of coaches and comes from a journey that had already taken him to Serie A with Venezia, winning promotion. After he was sacked, he resumed with Empoli, of which we know the right stimuli for Hellas.”
What will Zanetti need now?
“Now the ball passes to the club, to the transfer market. It is the good players who make the difference, who allow you to obtain results. The coach, without a doubt, has an impact, but then whoever goes on the pitch determines the matches. Verona has proved to be unpredictable… But it seems to me that, on balance, the club got its moves right, even when everyone had major doubts about it. Trust must be given to the management, who, numbers in hand, were able to do things in the right way”.
