ROME – The story of the end-of-year bribes by the Abruzzo Region has gone from the tones of farce to those of drama, especially for the citizens’ pockets. To recap:
1) while it distributed 18 million euros to over 2,300 beneficiaries thanks to the omnibus amendment at the end of the year, the majority in the Regional Council established that the disbursement of that sum was conditional on “greater tax revenues” of the same amount;
2) at the same time the regional council knew – because a debt of such proportions does not emerge overnight – that the four Abruzzo local health authorities had enormous, quantified liabilities illo tempo 122 million in total and progressively increasing. This debt was kept quiet, to ensure that the money promised to associations, pro loco, municipalities and various connections of thefriendship create electoral consensus in view of the regional vote on March 10;
3) once the polls have been verified, the news arrives of the cyclopean debt of the healthcare companies and the consequent need for a blood and blood budget change to cover the deficit. The necklaces and bracelets thus become a mirage, but now the party has begun and the votes have been cast.
4) there remains only a huge deficit to be remedied for the most delicate sector of a regional administration: the health sector, whose failures the Abruzzo people experience first-hand every day. It is right to make some considerations on the behavior of the center-right that governs Abruzzo:
– to provide public money it is necessary to make tenders followed by investigations, avoiding handouts which in certain contexts take on the appearance of corruption;
– we know of candidates for the Regional Council who have gone around the countries looking for representatives of associations saying: give me the name of an association and I will give you a few thousand euros. Can it be done like this?
– there is only one way to destroy this atrocity: produce a resolution to revoke that wicked, cursed, immoral, anti-legal and education-destroying measure; let the authors of the contacts and the village salesmen do it – Hon. Luciano D’Alfonso –
