Guns at home
In recent days, the State Police arrested a fifty-year-old from Catania caught in the act of illegal possession of part of a common firearm and possession of marijuana and hashish for the purpose of dealing.
During the ordinary and periodic activities aimed at containing and repressing the phenomenon of illicit drug dealing and widespread crime in general, the agents of the Flying Squad of Catania learned that in a house, in the Librino district, there may have been hidden of firearms and narcotics.
Consequently, the policemen of the Anti-Drug Section, after having identified the place, carried out a thorough search of the house. The search activities made it possible to find a semi-automatic dog-repellent pistol, a second dog-repellent pistol modified to make it suitable for fire accompanied by a magazine and a silencer, 77 cartridges of various calibers and three further magazines.
Furthermore, in the same apartment, four wrappers containing marijuana with a total weight of approximately 900 grams, a wrapper containing hashish weighing approximately 10 grams and a perfectly functioning precision scale were found. All the narcotic substances found were duly collected and seized.
The weapons and related ammunition, through the collaboration of the Scientific Police officers, were secured and subjected to seizure. Therefore, the man was arrested and, after the formalities, at the disposal of the judicial authority, he was associated with the prison in Piazza Lanza.
