Last Tuesday the curtain fell on the first collegiate member of the men’s national water polo team. An experience in which several players from Rari Nantes Savona also took part: the 7bello pillars Gianmarco Nicosia and Lorenzo Bruni, but also Mario Guidi, Andrea Patchaliev and the new red and white Davide Occhione.
Today the second step towards the Paris Olympic Games will begin, the Azzurri will in fact gather at the Federal Center in Ostia until June 27th for a new team. Nicosia and Bruni have been confirmed, while Guidi, Patchaliev and Occhione will not be part of the squad expected by coach Sandro Campagna who will instead be able to count on veterans from the recent Champions League Final Four.
The national team will therefore be strengthened by the standard-bearers of Pro Recco and the fresh European champions with Ferencvaros Edoardo Di Somma and Luca Damonte, the latter already announced by Savona as a reinforcement for the next season.
The friendly test against France is scheduled for June 21st while on June 26th the Italian team will move to Florence to challenge Romania managed by former Rari Bogdan Rath (with Savona winner of a scudetto and a Len Cup). Followed by, from 4 to 6 July, transfer to Alghero for the Sardinia Cup, an opportunity to iron out the details in view of the Olympic event.
