“Small donors grow”. The Avis Marsala educational project in schools has concluded

“Today, World Blood Donor Day, I would like to highlight another encouraging result achieved by this Association, that of having aroused the curiosity and attention of primary school pupils. Added to this is the reconfirmed positivity of the meetings with many eighteen-year-old graduates who – in recent months – have applied to become donors. We are closing this new training year with renewed enthusiasm, therefore, and I thank the school operators for their fundamental collaboration”. This was stated by the president of Avis Marsala, Luciano Rosas, in light of the success achieved by the educational-information project carried out in the city’s schools, from primary to secondary schools. With him, around the classrooms, the Avisina volunteer Angela Parrinello: “The sensitivity of managers and teachers was the added value in this process of approaching donation. In fact, on several occasions we found the students already informed, thus making it easier to involve them and make them reflect on the importance of donating blood”. This is what happened, for example, in the Sirtori Comprehensive School – directed by Giancarlo Lentini, with Prof. as contact person. Maria Giovanna Abate – with the teachers Silvana Amato (Livatino school) and Angela De Vita (Morante school) who prepared the students for the training meetings. The Avis Board of Directors also thanks the school directors Maria Luisa Asaro (“Giovanni XXIII – Cosentino”), Loana Giacalone (ITET “G. Garibaldi”, with the referring teachers Iole Martinez and Mirella Pisano) and Domenico Pocorrobba (IIS “Abele Damiani”, contact person Prof. Linda Licari) for having contributed to the realization of the project “A gift for Life”.
