Animal rights blitz at “DireFareMangiare” at the Milan Fair

A group of activists from the association Being Animals he interrupted yesterday afternoon’s speech by the CEO of KFC Italia, Corrado Cagnola, while giving a speech at the DireFareMangiare event at Fiera Milano.
DireFareMangiare is an event held annually in Italy, dedicated to modern collective and commercial catering. An event that brings together companies, local producers, industry experts, chefs, nutritionists and food enthusiasts to discuss and promote sustainable and conscious food practices.
KFC Italia is at the center of an information campaign launched in November 2023 which asks the fast food giant to commit to signing the European Chicken Commitment, a series of requirements with the aim of reducing the suffering of chickens in its suppliers’ intensive farmsas it has done in several countries including France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Together with the campaign and the petition, the Being Animali association has released various images over the months that show the living conditions of chickens in the vast majority of Italian intensive farms, as well as an undercover investigation carried out in four factories of a supplier of KFC Italia in the province of Verona. It is not the first time that the activists ofessereanimali take action to ask the fast food chain a greater commitment to the chickens. On March 22nd they covered the windows of a store in the center of Milan with silhouettes of suffering chickens, while a few days later, on March 26th, they showed up with signs and flyers at the inauguration of a new KFC restaurant in Limbiate (MB) at which CEO Cagnola was present.
«We are here to once again ask KFC Italia to stop the cruelty in the chicken farms from which it supplies. To do this it must adhere to the European Chicken Commitment, which involves the use of slower-growing breeds, a lower breeding density and more space available for chickens.
