The upcoming weekend will be the highlight of June in Pisa: on Sunday evening, in fact, with the traditional Luminara of San Ranieri, the celebrations of the Patron Saint of the city of Pisa will come to life. There will be no shortage of activities to do outside the city in the open air, also suitable for the little ones for whom on Sunday the center of the village of Santa Maria a Monte will reserve many dinosaur-themed surprises.

Many candles placed on the wooden ‘linens’ will make the atmosphere on the city’s Arno rivers suggestive on the evening of Sunday 16th while waiting for the traditional fireworks show celebrating the Patron Saint of the city which will take place on barges positioned along the Arno river starting from 11.30 pm.

Palio of San Ranieri

On Monday 17 June the celebrations continue in the city with the ‘Palio di San Ranieri’ on the Arno river, on the day in which San Ranieri is remembered. The four crews representing the historic districts of the city (San Francesco, San Martino, Santa Maria, Sant’Antonio), each made up of eight rowers, a helmsman and a fitter, will battle in the water, where the crew will win whose fitter will climb a ten meter high flagpole, placed at the finish line on a floating platform and will recover the flag for the conquest of the Antependium before the others. A 1500 meter long race against the current starting from the Canottieri Arno to the Scalo dei Renaioli. Departure at 7.00pm.

The high altitude walk on the Walls of Pisa on Saturday 15th is also among the events of the month most awaited by Pisans. The walk at 11 meters high will in fact be guided according to the theme of June in Pisa, as well as allowing you to discover the beauties of the city from a different perspective.

‘LuminMare’ at the American Bath

‘LuminMare’ returns to Bagno degli Americansi in Tirrenia on Monday 17 June. The nocturnal route in the woods will allow you to observe fireflies and the moon, with dinner planned at a restaurant and an astronomical observation session led by amateur astronomer Gianluca Beccani.

Three days to enjoy bruschetta in all sauces and other typical local and Tuscan dishes, with music and fun which will also be possible for lunch on Sunday. From Friday 14th to Sunday 16th June, a visit to the village of Lajatico can therefore be crowned by a passage to the 32nd edition of the festival, which guarantees covered spaces so as not to stop even in the event of unfavorable weather conditions.

A Sunday that will especially excite children will be that of June 16th in Santa Maria a Monte, whose main square will be transformed into a theme park, a miniature Jurassic Park where the giants who populated the Earth millions of years ago will be the absolute protagonists, with four life-size and high-impact reproductions and thematic workshops on history, science and games that will help you discover all the curiosities possible about dinosaurs. There will also be interactive animation that will take visitors directly into prehistory to illustrate the wonderful world of dinosaurs and an inflatable play area set up inside the Dinosaur Park to ensure fun for the little ones.
