“Rai will have to provide all the data on televoting”

The appeal presented by Codacons regarding the last edition of Sanremo broadcast and signed by Amadeus was accepted. Rai will have to provide all the data in detail regarding the vote expressed by the public at home which, combined with the other two juries allowed to vote, decreed Angelina Mango’s victory.

The appeal was accepted Codacons had presented regarding the votes cast by the public through the televoting during the last one Sanremo Festival. Rai will be obliged to provide the association with all the televoting data which it initially refused to make public because it was not considered to be of public interest.

Because Codacons had asked for the Sanremo 2024 televoting data

Codacons, at the end of the Sanremo 2024 final, had asked Rai to make the televoting data public following the malfunction that had made it difficult to express one’s preference. Several votes were invalidated due to the disruption and never counted. “In the aftermath of the last episode of the Festival, characterized by some disservices and technical problems that had affected the televoting system, Codacons together with Assourt had presented a formal request for access to Rai”, writes the association in a note, “requesting all data on the votes cast by the individual members of the press room and radio juries; valid votes collected through televoting; those invalidated and the related reasons; the data regarding any votes cast by the public at home and not collected by the system due to technical disruptions”. The request in question was accepted by the Commission for access to the administrative documents of the Presidency of the Council.

The reasons for accepting the appeal

The reasons for accepting the appeal were reported by Adnkronos: “The Commission observes that, as usual, the indication of the link for consultation of the documents published on the institutional website of the administration is equivalent to access. If there is documentation among that request that has not been published Rai will have to allow access since the request of today’s appellants falls within the scope of the statutory purposes of the associations themselves, in relation to the interests of the consumers that they represent”. Carlo Rienzi, president of Codacons, commented on the decision as follows:

John Travolta case at Sanremo 2024, Roberto Sergio: “Requested compensation for damages and suspended payment to the actor”

Our request was not aimed at knowing the percentages of votes obtained by the artists competing in Sanremo 2024 through the various juries, because this data is already public and accessible to all. What we want to know, and what Rai will now have to tell us, is how many votes were invalidated or not collected due to the technical problems recorded during the final evening of the Festival.
