There Fiadel Salerno announces the proclamation of a strike by the cooperative’s employees Colser, engaged in cleaning service at theUniversity hospital “San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d’Aragona” of Salerno, for next June 18th. The decision was taken following a series of unsuccessful meetings with Colser, the last of which was held yesterday, 13 June, at the Salerno shipyard.
Angel Rispoligeneral secretary of Fiadel Salerno, he was clear on the matter: “For two years, since Colser took office at the hospital on 16 February 2022, we have been faced with continuous difficulties. Part-time workers, despite limited contracts, often work many more hours than expected. This implies that they should be stabilized with full-time contracts, to guarantee them adequate rights and protections. We cannot accept that the company unilaterally decides what to do without a real discussion with the unions. Working conditions must improve and workers deserve stability and respect. Yesterday’s meeting, June 13, was particularly disappointing. Not only did Colser not provide adequate responses to our requests, but the deafening silence of the hospital management in the face of these explicit requests is unacceptable. We expect a decisive and concrete intervention from the hospital management, which has so far remained inexplicably silent. We expect that between now and June 18 the company will take a step back and sit down seriously to discuss the issues of the construction site. If this does not happen, we will proceed with the strike to defend workers’ rights and improve their working conditions.”
The strike will see the participation of workers with a protest at the Salerno hospital. Fiadel Salerno apologizes to the citizens and to the patients for the inconveniences that will inevitably arise, underlining that the strike is a necessary measure for the defense of workers’ rights and for respecting the employment contract.
