Yesterday evening, the awards ceremony for the works created as part of the Giovani a Regola d ideas competition took place in the cloister of the former San Francesco Convent, now the “Alfredo Tramacere” Barracks of the Guardia di Finanza of Lecce. ‘Art promoted by the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza together with the Regional School Office for Puglia – Office VI Territorial Area for the Province of Lecce.

The project, which is part of the initiatives relating to the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Corps, was started at the beginning of the school career and involved the artistic high schools of the city of Lecce and the towns of Galatina, Nardò and Parabita, the whose students tried their hand at producing works dedicated to the Fiamme Gialle.

Bas-relief, painting and sculpture were the sectors in which over 200 students worked and produced 79 works; following is the list of winners.

For the bas-relief section:
1st place ‘protagonism on the front line’ of the Liceo Enrico Giannelli Parabita;
2nd place ‘the griffin who delivers justice’ from the Liceo Pietro Colonna Galatina;
2nd place – ex aequo ‘honors of merit’ from the Liceo Ezio Vanoni Nardò;
3rd place ‘triumph of the griffin’ of the Ciardo Pellegrino Lecce high school;
4th place ‘nec recisa recedit on the Salento area’ of the Ezio Vanoni Nardò high school;

For the painting section:
1st place ‘nec recisa recedit’ of the Ciardo Pellegrino Lecce High School;
2nd place ‘a look towards the future’ of the Liceo Enrico Giannelli Parabita;
3rd place ‘yellow flames protection everywhere’ of the Ciardo Pellegrino Lecce High School;
4th place ‘cash dog’ of the Ezio Vanoni Nardò high school;

For the sculpture section:
1st place ‘Saint Matthew, protector of the yellow flames’ of the Liceo Pietro Colonna Galatina;
2nd place ‘nec recisa recedit’ of the Ciardo Pellegrino Lecce High School;
3rd place ‘the triumphant griffin’ of the Liceo Pietro Colonna Galatina;
4th place in ‘financial police forms’ of the Ciardo Pellegrino Lecce high school.

Furthermore, the students of the ”Ciardo Pellegrino” high schools in Lecce and ”Ezio Vanoni” Nardò, intended to donate 9 magnificent works entitled: From Fiume to Fidelity and Perpetual Courage, Legality = Freedom, Checkmate, like Grains of Sand, Tribute to the 250th Anniversary of the GDF, …250 in Legality, Light on the Border, Meeting Point and Legitimate Defense.

The winners were awarded by the Prefect of the Province of Lecce, Dr. Luca Rotondi, the President of the Court of Appeal of Lecce, Dr. Roberto Maria Carrelli Palombi of Montrone and the Metropolitan Archbishop of the City of Lecce, Monsignor Michele Seccia, accompanied by the professors responsible for the competition, Prof. Marco Serra of the Ciardo Pellegrino High School of Lecce, Prof. Jenny Manisco of the Enrico Giannelli High School of Parabita, Prof. Ivan Giannaccari of the Pietro Colonna High School of Galatina, Prof. Francesco Tarantino and Prof. Andrea Rizzo of the Ezio Vanoni High School in Nardò.

Among the guests were the highest civil, religious and military provincial authorities, as well as the singer Albano Carrisi who intended to give a brief but intense greeting to the organizers of the ceremony and to the large audience present as well as an affectionate wish of good luck to the new young artists.

The awards event was enlivened by the concert of the flute ensemble ‘fortunae flatus’, directed by maestro Luigi Bisanti of the ”Tito Schipa” Conservatory of music in Lecce and presented by the beautiful Salento journalist Dr. Fabiana Pacella, very close to the yellow flames of Lecce.

On stage, among others, the Provincial Commander of the Financial Police Colonel Stefano Ciotti, the Director of the Regional School Office for Puglia – VI Territorial Area Office for the Province of Lecce, Dr. Mario Trifiletti, the Vice President of the Province of Lecce, Dr. Fabio Tarantino, the President of the Foundation ‘Splendor Fidei’ of Lecce, Mons. Antonio Montinaro, the Master of the ‘Tito Schipa’ Conservatory of Lecce’ Prof. Corrado Nicola De Bernart, the four directors of the artistic high schools, Prof. Maria Rita Meleleo, Prof. Angelo De Stradis, Prof. Cosimo Preite and Prof. Marco Serra (representing the Director Prof. Raffaele Capone), as well as the members of the judging commission Dr. Antonio Perrone, Dr. Carmen Leo, Prof. Antonio Miglietta and Maj. Giuseppe Lorenzo, who addressed words of appreciation for the extraordinary initiative which brings the new generations ever closer to the institutions.
