Maria Cesaria Petracca, who called her friends ‘Sara’, drowned in the sea of ​​Ladispoli, in the Torre Flavia area. A tragedy in which the woman, a 62-year-old teacher, was the victim, in front of the eyes of her friend, also her teacher, who was with her. For the two, from the first information, it would have been the first day at sea of ​​the season after the ballots. The Civitavecchia prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the case.

‘Sara’, who taught at schools in Ronciglione and Capranica, had a passion for the UK and Ireland. She taught languages ​​and over the last few years she had helped many to obtain Cambridge and Trinity certificates. “Since my move to Ronciglione, I don’t exaggerate, hundreds of kids have been certified and equipped for life with a very important tool, language certifications. Kids who are used to taking exams today will be more ready to make specific and demanding choices towards secondary schools tomorrow of second degree and, subsequently, to prestigious Italian and foreign universities”, he wrote on social media.

The tragedy occurred in one of the most loved spots by swimmers on the northern coast of Lazio. Around 3pm, ‘Sara’ Petracca lost her life after being overwhelmed by the sea waves and crashing into the rocks. There was nothing the teacher could do, despite the help of three local police officers from the metropolitan city of Rome, who were carrying out a routine patrol on foot on the beaches of the Torre Flavia Nature Reserve. The agents are Silvia Dentini, Simona Antinucci and colleague Diego Galimberti.

However, the three managed to save ‘Sara’s’ friend, 52 years old, who was transported to Aurelia Hospital. The staff of the Port Authority worked with them and the Ares 118 operators intervened on site. Now the investigation is underway to reconstruct the dynamics of the tragedy and the rescue methods.

Once the news spread, the community of Ronciglione became closer. Many messages on social media. “Dear friend, you have given me immense pain. Thirty-year friendship, one look was enough to understand each other. I love you Sara, I already miss you”, wrote Silvana. “You will always remain in our hearts, bye professor”, Diana’s message. “You taught us a lot, Professor, you were the best”, Mirko’s thoughts.
