The oppositions take to the streets united on Tuesday 18 June in Rome. “After the physical attacks of the majority in Parliament we cannot accept that the country is also hostage to this climate of continuous intimidation. The Meloni Government is forcing its hand and trying to undermine the democratic foundations of our Constitution, proceeding with majority strokes towards the approval of Spacca-Italia and the premiership”. This is the appeal launched in a joint note by the Pd, M5s, Avs and Più Europa.
“We will not allow national unity and cohesion to be compromised. For this reason we invite the citizens, the political and social forces, the civic and democratic forces of this country to join our mobilization. See you in Rome at 5.30pm on Tuesday 18 June, in Piazza SS.
Conte: “In the square with the Tricolore, no to a climate of intimidation”
“Yesterday was one of the ugliest pages in the history of Parliament. You have seen the images. The project of differentiated autonomy was under discussion in Montecitorio, this secession of the rich, this Split Italy wanted by Salvini, Meloni, Tajani. Against which we we are fighting with all our strength because it is a project that will break national unity and will not benefit anyone”, says Giuseppe Conte in a video on social media.
“Our deputy Leonardo Donno simply wanted to hand over, imagine what a revolutionary gesture, the Tricolor to Minister Calderoli who is the architect of this project. An absolutely unacceptable reaction arose, many of the majority forces attacked him, with threats, kicks, pushes and punches. They hit him in the abdomen, took his breath away and also hit a shop assistant who also had to be rescued. I say, look back at those images and imagine that there were no shop assistants there as an interdiction force, what the majority deputies would have done in a chamber of Parliament, how they would have reduced our deputy Donno”.
“It is unacceptable and for what? For a Tricolore. It is our flag. If your problem is the Tricolor and defending the unity of the country, well we will relaunch and take to the streets with the Tricolours. Next Tuesday Rome, Piazza Santi Apostoli, we will meet with the other opposition forces to reiterate our no to autonomy, to the premiership, to this intimidating climate, to these aggressions which are no longer just verbal but become physical. we need the push of all of us, come to the square, let’s wave our Tricolor, let’s say to this climate and these attempts at cowardly aggression”.
