ASCOLI Eight years of punishment each for two of the four Ascoli fans arrested following the clashes that took place outside the Del Duca stadium last May 10th, at the end of the match between Ascoli and Pisa which sanctioned the relegation of the Bianconeri to the Serie C The other two, however, were banned from attending sporting events for three years.

A heavy hand, therefore, from the police commissioner especially towards the two who had already been the recipients of a similar provision in the past and who, after having been arrested, are now under house arrest: this is the twenty-nine year old for whom the daspo would have expired only two days later and of the thirty-five-year-old who was already serving a five-year sentence. For them, the judge for preliminary investigations of the Ascoli court, Annalisa Giusti, also ordered, again at the request of the police commissioner Giuseppe Simonelli, the obligation to sign in the police headquarters offices for five years half an hour after the start of the match . The other two arrested and who have been subjected to the precautionary measure of compulsory residence, will not be able to attend football matches for the next three years.

The lawyer

«This is a provision that we consider excessive in comparison to the facts that are contested – says the lawyer Umberto Gramenzi who defends two of the four fans arrested in flagrante delicto less than 48 hours after the events -. For this reason, we are evaluating whether to challenge the provision in the appropriate forums.”

The accusations

They are all accused of having carried out violent acts with resistance to a public official since those arrested were identified and identified by the footage acquired by the video surveillance cameras which are present outside the Del Duca stadium and which filmed the clashes: a hour and a half of urban guerrilla warfare in which a thousand people, at the end of the race, crowded in front of the gates of the pre-filtering area, near the central grandstand and then faced the deployed police forces. The fans kicked in gates in an attempt to break the chains and gain access to the sports facility. Then began a heavy throwing of torches, bolts, planters, barriers, bicycles at the officers who, in an attempt to disperse the troublemakers, had to resort to throwing tear gas and carrying out some lightening charges. At the end of the clashes, 16 officers were injured and had to seek treatment from emergency room doctors. The damage was also extensive. For those facts, investigations are still underway to try to identify other fans who participated in the clashes.
