Fascist internment in Abruzzo, memories of a Slovenian – Chieti

GUARDIAGRELE. The book “Internatite. An unheard voice from the fascist camps 1940-1943”, published by Round Robin Editrice and edited by Giuseppe Lorentini, doctoral student at the University of Molise and head of the online documentation center of the fascist concentration camp of Casoli. The event, promoted by the president of the Abruzzo artistic crafts exhibition body, Gianfranco Marsibilio, in collaboration with the national association of ex-combatants, the Maiella patriots group, represents an important event for historical memory and reflection on fascist internment in Abruzzo. The translation, from the original Slovenian text into Italian, was carried out by Ravel Kodric. The publication, through the memories of Fortunat Mikuletic, a Slovenian lawyer from Trieste, interned in the Corropoli and Casoli camps, sheds light on an often forgotten chapter of Italian history, illustrating the daily life of civil internment during the fascist regime. The appointment, which will be opened by the speech of president Marsibilio, will see the participation of the writer Elsa Flacco and the psychiatrist Camillo Fedele, which will explore the literary and psychological aspects of internment respectively. Lorentini will then delve into the topics covered and the importance of recovering historical memory, while the actor Icks Boreas will enrich the meeting with the reading of some extracts from the book, making the narrated experience even more alive and intense. The presentation will not only focus on Mikutelic’s memoirs, but also on the illustrations of the Slovenian painter Ljubo Ravnikaralso interned.
