Contrast to the summer “malamovida”: the Prefect meets the mayors of Monza, Cesano, Seregno, Desio, Lissone and Vimercate

On Thursday 13 June, the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security met in the Prefecture to address the issue summer “nightlife”, so that it doesn’t become “malamovida”.

On Thursday Palmisani met, together with the provincial leaders of the Police Force, i representatives of the trade associations Confcommercio and Confesercenti and the first citizens of Monza, Cesano Maderno, Desio, Lissone, Seregno and Vimercatemunicipalities, explains the Prefecture in a note: “in which the nightlife phenomenon takes on greater importance”.

Countering the “malamovida”: the prefect has given a mandate to the police for extraordinary checks

The prefect gave directives to the Police Force to plan extraordinary services, particularly in the evening and nightlife areas. “Forms of coordination and information exchange” will be promoted with the local police forces of the individual territories to encourage “the best deployment of available resources and the widest coverage of the territory, avoiding overlaps and enhancing the specific operational capabilities of all the components of the security system”.

Countering “malamovida”: the “Memorandum of Understanding” renewed

During the meeting the Memorandum of Understanding for the prevention and combating of the ‘malamovida’ phenomenon, an operational tool introduced in 2022 for managing entertainment during the summer months. An agreement with a ‘multilevel’ approach based on the coordination of the initiatives within the competence of the various bodies involved, both in terms of measures to combat degradation and in terms of territorial governance (public lighting, video surveillance, waste collection, street cleaning, care of public green areas and street furniture) and to raise awareness among operators and users about respecting the rules and maintaining responsible behaviour.

“During the summer season there is a notable increase in meeting moments in public places or places open to the public and in opportunities to frequent city centres, in particular the areas most characterized by the presence of businesses capable of attracting a significant number of customers. – said the prefect All together we are called to ensure that the ‘nightlife’, which is considered a very important opportunity for social and economic growth for each territory, develops within a framework of legality and safety”.
