Montesilvano, Pescara – A tragedy happened at the Montesilvano train station, where a mother and her daughter were hit and killed by a Frecciarossa train.
The accident, which occurred around 6.30pm, left the victims’ bodies unrecognizable, throwing witnesses present into panic and shock.
The details of what happened are still being examined by the competent authorities, with the Carabinieri and the railway police engaged in the investigation. Eyewitnesses said they saw the woman and the little girl, holding hands, cross the station and head towards the tracks. Shortly afterwards, the passing train hit them.
Several witnesses, in a state of shock, gave their testimonies. Two boys, visibly shocked and in tears, said: “They were walking on the platform when suddenly we no longer saw them.” Investigations are underway to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident and to identify the victims.
Several 118 ambulances, the railway police and the carabinieri intervened on site, working to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident and to provide psychological support to the shocked witnesses.
