Even this year The Classense Library project “A beach that reads is a beautiful story” returns to the Ravenna shores. The initiativeborn from the belief that reading is a fundamental value for the intellectual and social growth of a community, aims to promote reading by taking it out of institutional contexts and into places of leisure and relaxation. Starting June 18th, the customers of the bathing establishments of Ravenna and surrounding areas they will have the opportunity to enjoy the pleasure of reading thanks to the convenience of having books within “umbrella reach”. This project facilitates access to reading for residents and tourists by offering a book lending service in a simple and free way. Each beach establishment that joins the initiative will receive a selection of fifty titles, for a total of approximately five hundred volumes. The selection will be available without the need for a registration card And without a return deadline, thus bringing the book even closer to the reader. Participation in the project is entirely free for beach establishments and the loan service will be active until mid-September. The initiative is part of the programming foreseen by Inter-municipal reading agreement signed by the Municipality of Ravenna, which recognizes reading as a fundamental social value, to be supported through coordinated and joint action by public and private entities present in the area. Considering books and reading as strategic resources in which to invest with the aim of improving individual and community well-being, promoting social cohesion and stimulating the development of critical thinking among citizens.
