Marco Gay designated president of the Industrial Union of Turin

The general council of the Turin Industrial Union has designated Marco Gay to the position of president of the Confindustria association at the end of the mandate of Giorgio Marsiaj. The vote took place on the basis of the indications that emerged from the report of the designation commission, composed of Gianfranco Carbonato, Dario Gallina and Licia Mattioli, wise men in charge of the preliminary consultations as the last three past presidents of the association.

“I am honored and excited by this first important step towards the presidency of the Industrial Union of Turin, for us ‘the Union. I thank the three wise men, Licia Mattioli, Gianfranco Carbonato, Dario Gallina for the precious work done, the colleagues and for the trust they have shown in me, and the president Giorgio Marsiaj for what he has done and will do” said Gay, executive president of Zest and president of Confindustria Piemonte, speaking to the general council. “Important economic and social challenges await us. I am certain that Turin companies will be an engine of growth, development and well-being, and an accelerator of opportunities, capable of continuing to compete and of creating and attracting new industrial and technological excellence – he added – we are a fixed point in dealing with changes, because Turin is a melting pot of industry and knowledge capable of attracting talents, who want to compete every day at a national and international level. My main commitment will be to involve us in this project, together to a strong and capable team, our associates”.

The next steps

The designation is the first step in the process of renewing the association’s top management, which will be followed by a further meeting of the General Council on June 25th, during which the president in charge will present his presidential team and put it to the vote. Subsequently, as per the Statute, it will be up to the general assembly meeting in private on 15 July to elect Gay as president of the Turin Industrial Union for the four-year period 2024-2028 and the vice-presidents.

I leave a solid, authoritative Turin Industrial Union that has grown in the number of members, thanks also to a first-rate structure, to which I express my gratitude for the precious work carried out alongside me”, explained Marsiaj.
