While in the former Zuffo square the colorful and hyperactive paddock citadel, the moment is rapidly approaching whenat the 73rd «Trento Bondone» will begin to celebrate its own rites, first of all that of the technical and sporting checkswhich for a couple of editions has taken place in the large space at the foot of Doss Trento, in order to make everything more fluid.

Vehicles and documents they can be subjected to scrutiny by the technical commissioners from 9.30am to 5pm tomorrow (Friday), while Saturday will be entirely dedicated to the two test sessions.

The role of super favorite is invariably the prerogative of Simone Faggioli, who this time will be at the start of the longest hill climb in Europe with the Nova Proto NP01-2, a car with which he has already won the first two rounds of the Superclimb Championship.

Luigi Fazzino (Osella PA 30 Zytek), Samuele Cassibba (Nova Proto Sinergy V8), leader of the 2000 class, Achille Lombardi (Osella PA 21 4C turbo), Diego Degasperi, who will celebrate his 30th participation in this race, will try to make his life difficult facing it with the Norma M20 FC, then Franco Caruso, Matteo Moratelli and Giancarlo Maroni, all competing with a Nova Proto NP01.

We will also see a good fight in the E2SH group, which includes Marco Gramenzi (Alfa 4C MG 01 Furore), Alessandro Gabrielli (Alfa Romeo 4C), Manuel Dondi and Gianluca Ticci, both on the extreme Fiat X1/9. The GT group promises a show with Lucio Peruggini (Ferrari 488 Evo), Marco Iacoangeli (BMW Z4 GT3), Giuseppe Ghezzi (Porsche 997 GT3) and Mirko Zanardini (Lamborghini Huracan) in the front row.

In the E1 group, with 23 members, the name of Giuseppe Aragona stands out on the powerful Volkswagen Golf, who will try to counter Alessandro Tortora (Peugeot 106 turbo), Harald Freitag (Opel Kadett), Matteo Bacci (Alfa Romeo Giulietta) and Tiziano Nones (Skoda Fabia Evo).

The Rally group is large, with ten cars on the route, in which the name of Pietro De Tisi stands out on the Skoda Fabia, while many other fierce drivers will liven up the challenges in the RS (24 cars), RS Cup (19), Rs Plus (19) groups. As usual, the historic cars will be the first to ascend towards the Rocce Rosse, with 68 registered, divided into five categories and 21 classes.

In a race like this, however, the attention on the drivers is not only conditioned by their performance and the quality of the cars they bring on the routebut sometimes also from the stories, all different, that they bring with them and the messages they carry.

A striking case, in this sense, is that of Gianni Luca Tassi, who will be for the first time at the start of the «Trento Bondone» at the wheel of a Seat Ibiza Sc Trophy from the RsCup group with the aim of doing well, but above all to promote the integration project of the Grasso Racing Team, which configured this car to be driven by people with motor disabilities (paraplegics) , like the rider from Perugia himself, who has already taken part in the first two stages of the Supersalita championship.

Former motorally driver, with 16 Italian titles and one European title under his belt, he had to stop his activity in 2003 due to a serious accident which forced him into a wheelchair, but didn’t stop him from starting to run and have fun again two years later.

In 2017 he even took part in the Paris – Dakar, finishing 39th overall. After a pause for reflection, this year he dived back into the motorsport arena, tackling uphill races, to open a path for other people with disabilities who wish to participate in this type of competition, but also in challenges on the track or in rallies. .

It will soon be made available to the Grasso Racing Team even a second car with steering wheel controls to make a leap in quality. In the meantime, however, the hairpin bends of the “Trento Bondone” await him, which are no small obstacle for a novice.
