Today the Caserta metalworking industry stops for the whole day. The general strike in the sector was jointly proclaimed by Fiom, Fim and Uilm, who also organized a demonstration. At the center of the protest are the working conditions of the blue collar workers in the area, which also has a strong and traditional industrial vocation. At the head of the mobilization is what may be the mother of all metalworking disputes in the Caserta area, Jabil, which last April 30th declared its intention to close the Marcianise plant and which just yesterday experienced yet another dramatic transition to ministry.
Raffaele Paudice, CGIL Naples and Campania: “land plundered by rapacious entrepreneurs”
We fully support this event because it captures one of the fundamental points of the development of this area. The province of Caserta has become a land plundered by predatory entrepreneurs, by multinationals who arrive here, promise reindustrialization projects that they don’t punctually carry out, run out of incentives and leave, taking shock absorbers. No project, no investment. Yesterday we received confirmation from Jabil for the umpteenth time that they will be leaving. This is unacceptable, it is a land that has an industrial vocation that must be supported by public policies, making companies responsible for making investments in the area. We cannot witness this massacre. We ask that the Region also do its part and not just make proclamations
