The flavors of Varese at the table: gastronomic review with zero km menus on the premises

Among the protagonists of the gastronomic event there will also be cheeses produced in the province of Varese

VARESE – One month per taste the dishes and flavors typical of the Varese culinary tradition. First edition for a new gastronomic event in the area, “Itineraries of taste”, which will begin Monday 17 June. Until July 14th, Varese residents and tourists will be able to taste special themed menus in participating restaurants and bars in the garden city. The initiative was presented today, Thursday 13 June, at Palazzo Estense.

The event has the contribution of Slow Food Province of Varese and InVarese – Urban Commercial Districtwith the patronage of Commonthe support of Confessors and the collaboration of Confcommercio. «There will be around thirty members, it is already an interesting number, – explained the deputy mayor Ivana Perusin – including many places already known in the area. Each restaurant will have its own laminated menu with a QR code that links to the other restaurants so you can try multiple menus in multiple different businesses.” The more strictly gastronomic part will be accompanied by that linked to entertainment: restaurants will be able to propose events such as musical evenings during the month of the review. They will be reported on the vareseinforma.it website together with the list of venues with their respective menus.

First edition

«An important initiative for our city: it was very challenging to organize but it is only intended to be the first edition», commented the president of Confcommercio Ascom Varese Antonio Besacchi. “It is often difficult to involve businesses, so it is important to have so many merchants: thanks to the administration for the initiative”, he added Rosita De Finoterritorial director of Confesercenti. Fabio Zanetti of Slow Food recalled the initiatives promoted by the Varese convivium to enhance local products, including the Earth Market in Induno Olona. «From this year in Slow Wine, the Slow Food wine guide which contains the best Italian wines, we also managed to include Varese wines».

The menus

The Varese event follows a similar initiative which took place in spring in Valceresio, which however was concentrated only on weekdays. The menus of “Itineraries of taste” can instead be chosen in almost all places every day for lunch and dinner. Not just full menu proposals in the restaurants but also aperitifs and wine and beer tastings in bars.
