Modica – The Zona Blu aps, active in Milan since 2020 in the promotion of artistic and cultural events, presents the launch of the 2024 open call for the fifth edition of the SITU Festival project. The artist residency and site-specific festival will take place in Modica, from 19 August to 1 September 2024. The project is sponsored by the Municipality of Modica, and in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania, the Coca Center Association of Contemporary Arts, the IMMAGINA Association and the artistic collective Ruum Duo Duo. Applications are open to emerging artists and talents from the visual arts to the performing arts, including dance, theatre, poetry and music; from video art to photography, from design to architecture; both individual and collective realities.

SITU Festival offers residency for artists in the historic center of Modica, from 19 August to 1 September, the exhibition of the works carried out in residence, and a rich public program of meetings, musical events, activities and performances during the three days of the festival, from 30 August to 1 September 2024. During the past editions – Militello in Val di Catania (2020 and 2021), Acate (2022) and Chiaramonte Gulfi (2023) – the Blue Zone aps has dedicated more and more attention to the development of art projects -tistic in Sicily, far from the ordinary circuits of contemporary art. Valuing the Sicilian territory, each project focuses on the social and historical characteristics of the place that hosts the Festival, with the dual aim of connecting the installations with the host venue and testing the adaptation of the art within it. Applications are open until June 30, 2024, by sending your material to [email protected].
