2024/2025 school calendar, dates region by region [AGGIORNATO con BASILICATA]

Almost all the Regions have approved the school calendar for 2024/2025, establishing the start and end dates of the school year, as well as the long weekends and other closures decided at regional level.

Start of school 2024, starting on September 16th in Basilicata

The return to school for students in Basilicataone of the regions for which it was not yet known, is set for September 16, 2024, while the end of lessons will be June 10, 2025 for primary and secondary schools and June 30, 2025 for nursery schools. The school calendar for the 2024/2025 year approved by the Regional Council provides for this.

Schools will be able to bring forward the start date of teaching activities by a maximum of three days, but only for proven needs. The calendar approved by the region accepts the request of Confindustria Basilicata to start school activities no earlier than September 16th to align the region’s tourism capacity with that of the majority of neighboring regions.

For the school year 2024/25 are expected overall 204 useful days of lessons for primary and secondary school and 221 days for nursery schoolof which no less than 200 days are tied to lessons.

The Council’s measure also envisages limiting the return of a single day as much as possible, in the presence of suspensions and obligatory close holidays, in consideration of the inevitable consequences that such choices have with respect to the need to reconcile time between family and work and the needs of service managers and local businesses.

By July 15th, school institutions are required to communicate their calendar to families, local authorities and the regional school management.

Festivities

At a national level, holidays are decided by a specific ministerial ordinance, which for the next school year will presumably be issued in July.

In any case, we already know that the public holidays on which teaching activities will be suspended will be as follows:

• November 1st, feast of all saints;
• December 8, Immaculate Conception;
• December 25th, Christmas;
• December 26;
• January 1st, New Year’s Eve;
• January 6, Epiphany;
• the Monday after Easter;
• April 25th, anniversary of the Liberation;
• May 1st, Labor Day;
• June 2nd, National Republic Day;
• the feast of the Patron Saint.
