economical high power electric broom

Proscenic has updated one of its most successful electric broom vacuum cleaners, with small targeted changes that have further raised the price-performance ratio

Proscenic P13: excellent price-performance ratio

We previewed the Proscenic P13 battery-powered electric broom for about a month, testing it in the most classic conditions of use, and we found that it is comfortable to use, well made and also cleans very well.

For this reason we can say that this product has more advantages than defects and, to be honest, even the defects are more than tolerable in light of the list price.

PRO

  • Suction power
  • Ergonomics
  • Price

AGAINST

  • Non-USB charging
  • Wall fixing plate (with drill)
  • It doesn’t stand on its own

From a technical point of view, the Proscenic P13 is not a truly new model, but rather an optimization of the previous P12. The company has listened to the criticisms coming from some P12 users and has revisited the product, which now has slightly superior features and is called Proscenic P13.

In essence it is a cyclonic electric broom, therefore without a bag, with a 400 watt brushless motor with a power of 35,000 Pascals (2,000 more than the P12). Now the broom has a new V-shaped anti-tangle rotating brush, with some rigid and other soft components, and a new 2,500 mAh battery.

Proscenic says it has changed battery supplier, to address charging issues experienced by some P12 users. The new battery, just like the old one, is recharged with an external power supply with a traditional electrical jack, not USB. During a month of use we did not find any defects in the charging, nor anomalous behavior in the discharge during use.

Since the battery can be disconnected from the vacuum cleaner, it is also possible to purchase a spare one and continue cleaning the house while the previously used battery is recharged. However, it is not possible to use the device while the inserted battery is connected to the charging power supply.

In the main part of the device, in addition to the motor, there is a circular LCD screen that shows the currently set suction power and the remaining time of use (which changes according to the power).

The screen is also used to change the suction power between three possible levels by pressing the single integrated button. Switching on and off, however, occurs via the trigger button on the handle. A peculiar feature of this vacuum cleaner is that, when the user presses the trigger to turn off the device, the power is brought for a couple of seconds at most in order to completely empty the mounted accessory.

The main accessory is the rotating brush to be inserted either directly on the body of the vacuum cleaner, or with the extension supplied. This brush has green front LEDs, which improve the visibility of the floor during vacuuming even in slightly dark corners of the house, or under sofas.

The suction system is made up of a group of 5 filters, one of which is the final Hepa filter positioned in the handle and which has the task of cleaning the air coming out of the device, in order to limit the risk of allergies for the user who is using the Proscenic P13.

The total weight for the Proscenic P13, with the rotating brush, telescopic tube and battery inserted, is 2.65 kilograms.

To use a few words, we could say that the Proscenic P13 electric broom is only missing a spare battery in the package. For the rest, in fact, the product lacks nothing to be used immediately for classic domestic cleaning operations.

In the sales package, which is very small thanks to the fact that the tube is telescopic, there is the suction motor, all the filters already mounted (plus two additional spare ones), a rotating brush, a rigid nozzle for the crevices, a small, wide and flat broom and the aforementioned extension tube.

Then there is the charging station, which is actually a simple attachment plate (in rigid plastic) to be fixed to the wall with plugs, also supplied, and the power supply for charging.

Proscenic P13, especially when used at maximum power, cleans very well. Used as an electric broom, it is appreciated for its ability to vacuum up to very close to the skirting board and corners.

Even when used as a portable vacuum cleaner it defends itself very well, sucking up everything in just a few passes. Often already at the first time, if the filters are clean.

Finally, Proscenic P13 is also quite effective in vacuuming sofas, carpets and blankets, on which however it is advisable to act with the rotating brush after having cleaned it carefully.

Proscenic P13 is extremely easy to use and, if we look at ergonomics, it has very few flaws. One is to not memorize the last power used.

If we use the vacuum cleaner at maximum power and turn it off temporarily, perhaps to move a piece of furniture, when we turn it back on we will have to set the maximum power again.

Furthermore, the solution chosen for charging has advantages but also defects. The universality of the power supply allows for its very economical replacement in the event of a fault, but a USB recharge would have been even better.

The wall mount, however, is always something you either love or hate. It is certainly not very flexible, because the plate must be fixed with a drill, plugs and screwdriver and can no longer be moved. So, if you change your vacuum cleaner model, the plate itself or at least the holes in the wall remain.

It should be noted, in any case, that if the Proscenic P13 is not fixed to the wall in its housing it is not able to stand up on its own: it will always have to be placed against something or it will fall to the ground.

During use, however, Proscenic P13 is comfortable to handle, it is not too heavy and is flexible enough to pass under beds, sofas and also many other pieces of furniture with feet that are not too short.

The noise produced, in case of maximum power, is quite high but tolerable.

The autonomy varies based on the power used: roughly between 15 minutes and 35-40 minutes. Charging takes about 4 hours, in the case of a completely discharged battery, but in most cases it will be possible to reuse it after a couple of hours.

Appreciable, even if it is a little unsettling at first, is the fact that before turning off the appliance empties the tube and the mounted accessory by itself, raising the power to the maximum.

The basket emptying system is decidedly convenient (officially 1.2 litres, which in reality is about half due to the space occupied by the filters): a single button to drop the dirt directly into the waste basket.

After a certain number of days of use, the camera body will have to be dismantled and the filters will have to be cleaned, but the operation is absolutely within everyone’s reach. Finally, the rotating brush can be dismantled by acting on a single lever and reassembled in a few seconds.
