Thanks to the police, there is a happy ending in the scam perpetrated on two elderly women from Forlì who were robbed of over 7 thousand euros through the scam of a fake nephew in serious financial difficulty. A twenty-one year old traveling to Forlì was reported by the soldiers of the Norm Operational Section of the Carabinieri Company of Forlì and all the stolen goods, consisting of money and valuables, were returned to the victims.
The scam script: the fake nephew communicated by telephone to the respective victims that he urgently needed to collect a postal package but that he was in serious financial difficulty. According to him, the failure to withdraw would have led to a serious complaint to the Authorities but it could have resolved the situation, freeing him from problems, provided he acted immediately and received a few thousand euros immediately, as also confirmed by telephone by two qualified as Marshal and Postal Officer. After a few minutes, as announced by the deceptive nephew, the victims were reached at home by a person who, depending on the perceived seriousness, withdrew, in the first case, cash and valuables for an amount of approximately 2 thousand euros and, in the second case , gold jewelery worth around 5 thousand. When they realized they had been scammed, it was too late and there was no trace of the criminal anymore.
The investigations of the case, promptly conducted by the Carabinieri of the Norm Operational Section of the Forlì Company, in concert with the soldiers of the Naples Stella Carabinieri Company Command – Operational Section, allowed the alleged perpetrator of the scam to be identified in a twenty-one year old from Campania.
After the first immediate findings, the movements of the young man were reconstructed in real time and, according to the police, he had taken a train departing from Forlì towards Naples.
Having therefore been alerted, the colleagues of the Naples Stella Carabinieri Command managed, despite the massive influx of passengers, to identify the 21-year-old who was found in possession of all the cash and all the gold stolen from the unsuspecting Forlì victims: in particular the The recovered gold was still found in the same freezer bag used by the victim to properly store it. All the stolen property reported was returned to the two elderly women.
At the end of the detailed investigations of the case, activated immediately after receiving the complaints from the victims, he was reported.
