Yet another disappointment for Pallacanestro Cantù. Also next season the Brianza team will play in the A2 championship. The seal on yet another year of mediocrity in game 4 of the final in Trieste. After winning the third match, coach Devis Cagnardi’s men were called upon to concede an encore and then bet everything on the “beauty”. However, there was no story in the Julian region, with the home team eventually winning 83-72 and ending the series. For Trieste it was the third and decisive point, which gave them promotion to Serie A.
Cantù takes his leave after a season characterized by errors and uncertainties, starting with that regarding the coach, with Romeo Sacchetti confirmed during the summer and then dismissed a few days before the start of the championship. There were many shortcomings in the construction of the team, which indeed reached the final, but which in the decisive moment paid for the mistakes in the construction phase.

However, I would like to thank my players because, despite the difficulties, they tried to win the match. Unfortunately we had less energy than in Trieste. It’s been a long season. We had the goal of trying to win this championship. We have reached the final act, and now we are not happy because the ambition and will were different. We have faced several moments of difficulty right from the start, but we have always managed to overcome them with the strength of the group and the organization of this company. We will return to Cantù, we will try to understand where the mistakes were made to try to improve. But we must also try, with awareness, to take what good has been done, because it was a year that my players faced with great dignity. He deserves credit and credit for that.”
