At the end of May, the Municipality of Marsala announced that it intends to entrust a specific task to a company that will take care of pruning the unsafe branches and arranging the centuries-old trees of Villa Cavallotti. In the meantime, the Porta Nuova garden presents various situations of degradation. Apart from the tall grass and the fountain at the entrance infested with a plant that hides the beautiful goldfish in the dirty water, the children’s games are once again broken, the swings rusty and without seats, while the children’s swing disabled people doesn’t seem to be working and the sign is abandoned on the ground. Stained glass windows broken out in children’s homes. The pots with plants must be removed because they are broken and could be dangerous for pedestrians.
At the Bastione San Francesco, however, the sign dedicated to Elisa Trapani, the late writer from Marsala, is bent on one side and the large fountain has no longer worked for years due to a technical problem that has never been resolved. In short, a kilometer of the Villa not only needs correct pruning, much of which has never been done in Marsala over the years (proof of this are the trees that have fallen into necrosis in the city’s avenues), but also adequate and periodic arrangement, an intervention which provisions should be made for all urban decoration actions.
