The ceremony of the delivery of the golden lance returns to grandstand A. If not exactly in the sector of the seats where the authorities sit, at least in a grandstand below that will be created for the occasion. And where throughout the event the coveted trophy will be guarded by two infantrymen from the Municipality. The prefect Maddalena De Luca gave the green light to the operation in the meeting on safety in the Giostra which was held yesterday morning with the mayor Ghinelli, the councilor delegated to the Giostra Paolo Bertini, the rectors of the neighborhoods and the representatives of the police forces . And so the ceremony returns to its traditional location after eight years.
A goal achieved in small steps after the ceremony was exiled to a private terrace at the bottom of the list and then to a box attached to the Infame Column. “It is a great proof of trust that the prefect has given to the entire world of the Giostra – says Paolo Bertini – having this important ceremony again in grandstand A is a great step forward. It is reclaiming this central moment of the Giostra” . And as always happens in the Saracen, here too there is a “but” spelled out this time not by the Herald, but by the prefect Maddalena De Luca. The warning and the condition for which the ceremony can remain in grandstand A over the years is that spectators and participants remain in their assigned seats until the golden lance is in the hands of the winning district. The access gates to Piazza Grande, the two sectors for the standing public and the exits of the stands will in fact be manned by security personnel and the police so that there are no disturbances or invasions of the square until it is concluded delivery.
“It is the proof of maturity that the prefect wants in exchange from the whole world of the Giostra – says Paolo Bertini – The rectors have undertaken to keep the extras at bay, the problem is the standing public who will have to be polite and give great proof of seriousness. Also present at the meeting with the prefect Maddalena De Luca were the police commissioner Maria Luisa Di Lorenzo, the mayor Alessandro Ghinelli, the delegated municipal councilor Palla Giostra Paolo Bertini, representatives of the Cultural and Tourist Policies Office and the Maintenance Office, the Commander of the Municipal Police Aldo Poponcini, the police forces, the security manager appointed by the Municipality of Arezzo Pier Giorgio Secci, the 118 coordination and the disaster manager Luca Pancioni.
