SAN GIULIANO The Milan stadium is an opportunity to obtain a police station

«The prospect of the Milan stadium being built in San Donato could be a great opportunity to obtain the establishment of a state police station in the South of Milan which we as a municipality could host in San Giuliano: it would be a great step forward to raise the level of security in our cities”. Close to the start of the process for the program agreement regarding the construction of the 70,000-seat facility in the San Francesco area, the mayor of San Giuliano Marco Segala appears determined to bring a series of of requests, starting precisely from the request for a strengthening of the police presence in this part of the hinterland. The latter is an objective which, beyond the stadium, also appeared in the petition promoted in recent months by the centre-right forces in the city government, which collected almost 3 thousand signatures from citizens, to urge the authorities in charge to take measures aimed at strengthen controls in the urban center which is the largest and most populated in Southern Milan. Not only. Segala, during the process for the stadium, also intends to address with the institutions a series of issues concerning the environmental impact of the one billion project, as well as the need for guarantees regarding the interventions necessary to adapt roads and mobility to host the flow of fans and visitors who will fill the stadium. Precisely in order to keep these requests high, the mayor wrote a letter to the Region, the Metropolitan City and the mayor of San Donato Francesco Squeri, to ask for “full involvement” of his administration, “through a program agreement or another instrument that San Donato deems most appropriate, in order to guarantee a constructive, transparent and open discussion, in the interest of our neighboring communities”. Segala, who continues to see Milan’s investment as an opportunity which, he highlights, “would bring prestige to our territories”, points out that his request arises from a motion voted unanimously by the city council which gives the mandate to the mayor to take an active part in the institutional discussion regarding the complex match linked to the stadium.n
