Svolta Liberale Taranto denies a ‘secret agreement’ with Melucci

According to the councillors, the mayor no longer has the numbers to administer

The Democratic Party has launched serious accusations against the centre-right forces, denouncing an alleged “under the table agreement” with the mayor Rinaldo Melucci. The complaint comes from the municipal councilors of Svolta Liberale Taranto, Francesco Cosa, Walter Musillo and Cosimo Festinante, who in a note declare: “The facts demonstrate the opposite. Since the beginning of Melucci’s mandate, the centre-right opposition groups have always hindered the administration with data in hand”.

According to the councilors, Melucci does not have the numbers to administer and lacks the necessary majority in the city council to continue the work regularly. “There is a hard-working opposition that monitors, monitors and proposes alternative solutions that are not considered,” they add.

For Svolta Liberale councillors, the PD’s attack is an attempt to “rebuild a new political virginity. The current problems are the result of the Melucci government and the PD, which supported the mayor despite the operational inadequacy demonstrated”, they say.

The responsibility for the current unlivable situation of the city, according to Cosa, Musillo and Festinante, is to be attributed to the PD, to the president of the Puglia Region Michele Emiliano and to the mayor Melucci. They conclude by urging Melucci to clarify his position and to honestly explain his future intentions to the citizens of Taranto, while the Svolta Liberale group will continue to work from the opposition “with seriousness and responsibility”.
