Giugliano – Clearance of a property illegally occupied in Giugliano by 4 families


This morning
the police forces, coordinated by the prefect of Naples, Michele of Bariand by the mayor of Giugliano in Campania, Nicola Pirozziintervened to clear out a property located in via Palmentiello. The building, made up of six apartments, had been illegally occupied the previous day, despite having just been renovated with funds from the Metropolitan City of Naples.

The clearing operation was carried out promptly by the police station State Police of Giugliano-Villariccafrom the Giugliano Carabinieri Company in Campania and from the local area Municipal police. The occupants had already placed mattresses and other personal objects inside the building, but they were removed thanks to the joint action of the authorities.

The property in via Palmentielloconfiscated from organized crime, was destined to six families of Roma ethnicity coming from the field of Giugliano in the locality Carrafiello. This initiative is part of a memorandum of understanding between the Municipality of Giugliano and the Metropolitan Cityaimed at solving the problems of the Roma camp, where the January 13th last year a tragedy struck the community with the death of little Michelle, six years old.

The Prefect of Naples expressed his heartfelt thanks to the operators of the Law enforcement and municipal police forces for their intervention quick and effective. The four families who had illegally occupied the property will now be taken into care by the social services of the Municipality of Giuglianowho will evaluate the necessary financial aid, especially regarding accommodation and rent.

The situation of the occupying families is part of a context of social hardship already present in the nomadic camp via Carrafiello. Local authorities are trying to improve the living conditions of these families through targeted interventions and the renovation of properties confiscated from criminals.
