CARPI – The students of the Team Zero C team from the Leonardo da Vinci Technical Institute in Carpi have returned from the ShellEco-marathon, a historic competition dedicated to innovation and sustainable mobility, which took place in the Paul Armagnac Circuit in Nogarò, France. The team obtained sixth place, out of 26 participants, in the category dedicated to electric prototypes. The young people from Carpi led by Professor Stefano Covezzi achieved this important result thanks to a 26 kg vehicle powered by a lithium ion battery, which completed the race with a total consumption of 808 km/kWh in just 4 attempts compared to the 6 allowed and used by other teams.

The competition saw 110 teams from high schools and international universities from 25 countries around the world compete in the categories “Prototype” and “Urban Concept”consisting of 10 laps of the circuit, for a total distance of 16 km, to be covered in a maximum time of 38 minutes with the lowest possible fuel consumption.

“The historic participation of the Leonardo da Vinci technical institute is now rooted within the Shell Eco Marathon and this year too it was a unique opportunity for our students, a team of 20 students, to take a high-speed vehicle onto the track. they worked on during the school year. – commented the teacher Stefano Covezzi, project manager for ITIS Leonardo da Vinci in Carpi. – Activities like these are unique, because they allow you to put into practice the technical skills acquired in a real competition, encouraging collaboration and team spirit”.

“Shell Italia is proud of the now historic participation of Team Zero C from the Leonardo da Vinci technical institute and of the sixth place achieved thanks to the new configuration of their prototype. We are also happy with the support that local businesses provide to young people, who every year demonstrate talent, creativity and passion, to become future changemakers” – he claims Valeria Contino, Head of External Relations and Communications Shell Italia.
