Andrea Paltrinieri, the 48-year-old engineer who showed up at the barracks between Monday and Tuesday 11 June with the body of his wife Anna Sviridenko in the trunk of the van parked just outside, in via Pico della Mirandola, was questioned for five hours by the judge for preliminary investigations during the detention validation hearing. The man risks life imprisonment: he is accused of multi-aggravated voluntary homicide, premeditation and marital bond. Today, Wednesday 12 June, he responded to the investigating judge’s questions from Sant’Anna and made some statements. The judge will now rule on the request of the Modena Prosecutor’s Office to confirm the precautionary custody in prison. According to investigators, the 48-year-old killed her wife by strangling her after the Italian court’s decision granting her custody of her 2 and 3-year-old children in her home in Austria. The couple had already started separation procedures and the 41-year-old, of Belarusian origins, had obtained “prevailing” custody from the Innsbruck court, granting her father visitation rights. She «she always had a proactive spirit and a smile. She was like that. I have never seen her, in the two years that she has been here with us, not smiling. A positive person, who has entered the heart of the entire department”, said Professor Anna Maria Pecchi, at the Modena Polyclinic, regarding the victim of yet another feminicide, a radiology specialist at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Unimore). «Here she joined us in 2022, because she had made the choice to also specialize in diagnostic radiography and therefore frequented our departments and our services with enormous profit», the words of Pietro Torricelli, director of the integrated activity department of Radiology, «Anna was one of the best residents. She had already obtained a specialization in nuclear medicine for which she had practiced at the University of Innsbruck (Austria), also producing very significant scientific activity.”
